Gamers, at least those who choose to push their systems a bit further, should be concerned over the recent NYT announcement regarding nationwide raids on mod-chip users of console systems.

Allegations about the sale and distribution of illegal modification chips and copyright circumvention devices for the popular consoles and others included 32 search warrants in 16 states, said the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Illegal chips and other devices used on gaming consoles violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998. Sales of counterfeit or illegally obtained games costs the industry about $3 billion a year globally, not including Internet piracy, the Entertainment Software Association, a trade group, estimates. It’s not often that game reviewers nearly drool over their copy, however after checking out the latest news of the PS/2 release of God of War 2, well, he needed lots of napkins. It seems to be a huge step forward from the previous episode and from other games in many ways.

“This game delivers on so many levels it’s simply astounding. I’m not sure what type of magic the developers worked to get such stunning and lifelike environments but it worked.

You’d be hard pressed to find a better looking game for the PS2. The attention to detail is amazing, in the Atlas level in particular the backgrounds and surroundings are done so well you really feel as if you’re traveling inside his body.” (Source: CBS Gamecore)

Seems that those who can’t be without their Wii (exactly who that is, I’m not sure) will have a great time on the Norweigan Cruise Lines after their announcement they they have outfitted their newest ship and its whole NCL America fleet with Wii systems including theatre sized presentation areas, like the one pictured on engadget (click here for full story).
